Saying Yes
A song came on and it triggered a deep love that is held within me and memories that continue to shape my life.
Count on Me by Bruno Mars
A dear friend of mine, that is no longer with us, had sent this to me and said: when I hear this song, I think of you. I googled it to listen to and thought…WOW! (along with many other thoughts and feelings…and if you know me, tears – then & now)
One of the things that was brought to my attention in this moment today was: saying yes – allowing ourselves to say yes, humble ourselves to accept a gesture of kindness in times when we need it without feeling we need to take everything on all the time for ourselves (and yes: pot – kettle – black here myself…it’s a continued learning process in life). As well as acting upon what our heart calls us to do rather than quieting the voice because maybe we aren’t sure how something will be perceived. What if some of our most beautiful life moments can come from stepping out – saying yes – accepting a helping hand (being a helping hand)…
A special bond was formed through offering a meal to what was once a stranger but through a humble yes (accepting a meal in a time of need), God blessed us with what we would have never known was in the making.
Not everything will have the same outcome. It could be as simple as doing a loving deed and life carries you from there to another act of kindness without a continued connection / relationship. But somewhere along the line, I believe relationships are created through simple moments more than we realize. And they aren’t always big life changing events that create all situations. I’m sure if you take time to think about different friendships, you’ll realize they all started in their own unique ways. Some that go back in time years ago, some newer ones, some that maybe lasted for a season in our life but brought lessons while helping us through things. Nonetheless – whether lasting memories come out of a yes or not, knowing you followed your heart is what counts and is worth celebrating (no matter which end of the yes you’re on – because a yes also happens when you listen to your heart calling you to do something)!
Through Carrie’s words from another song she liked: “Celebrate we will ’cause life is short but sweet for certain…” – Dave Matthews Band
We don’t need to be seen as Wonder Woman – we are human and laying our cape to the side can be of great value!
So much love to everyone!! xoxo
